For the many fans in the hockey-loving communities of Oswego and Plattsburgh, Super Bowl LVIII isn't anything more than the second-biggest sporting event of this weekend.  

When the Lakers and Cardinals Men's hockey teams step onto the ice this Saturday, February 11th, at 7:00 PM, they will resume one of the best rivalries in Division III sports. This clash is the centerpiece of Whiteout Weekend, a spectacle where Laker fans are not just spectators; they are an integral part of the game. Encouraged to wear white and voice their unwavering support for the home team, the students, alumni, and supporters who sell out every seat of Deborah F. Stanley Arena transcend the atmosphere of a typical hockey game. 

While the rivalry between Oswego and Plattsburgh is often highlighted by their intense battles for the top spot in the SUNYAC conference hockey standings and coveted berths in the NCAA Division III playoffs, the roots of this rivalry run much deeper. The fervor surrounding the game extends far beyond the confines of the rink, it's about pride, tradition, and the shared history of these two powerhouse programs.
