OSWEGO, NY - The American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) have announced their 2023-2024 All-American teams for Div. II and Div. III men's hockey. This award is voted on by Div. II and Div. III men's hockey head coaches, who select 30 players that they deem to be the best between the two divisions.
Two Lakers were fortunate enough to be named on two of these lists, as forwards Shane Bull and Tyler Flack were named to the All-American East First team and East Third team respectively. Both skaters had stellar seasons with the Lakers in their final year, leading the team to another SUNYAC playoff berth.Â
Bull surpassed his previous career-high in points, 28, posting 42 points this season, scoring 22 goals and collecting 20 assists. He also scored 11 power play goals, which were nine more than he had scored during his first two seasons combined. Bull accumulated five multi-goal games, which includes two hat tricks, one of which was a four-goal game against SUNY Brockport. Bull also had more multi-point games (12) then he had one-point games (7) and zero-point games (7).Â
His season-high for points in a game came against SUNY Morrisville, when he collected six points on two goals and four assists in the Lakers 8-2 victory.Â
Being on the same line as Bull, Flack also had an offensive explosion for the Lakers. Heading into the 2023-2024 season, Flack's career-high in points was 17, a total he collected during the 2021-2022 season. After a down 2022-2023 season where he finished with four points, Flack had a tremendous turnaround, compiling 40 points, the second most on the Lakers behind Bull, with 17 goals and 23 assists.Â
Flack accumulated 10 multi-point games which was double the amount of games he failed to record a point (5). His season-high for points came against SUNY Potsdam, when he collected five points with one goal and four assists.Â
Both players' efforts this season were recognized by coaches that they had faced and those across Div. II and Div. III and they seized the opportunity to show off their skills on a regular basis.
