HOW IT HAPPENED
In the top of the second, with bases loaded and two outs,
Daniel Winchester hit a double to
center field to bring in two runs to put Oswego on the board.
In the top of the third,
Tishawn Featherstone hit a double to bring in one run, followed by a walk,
and
Jacob Levine singled to bring in run number four. With bases loaded and no outs, a single
to center field brought in two runners making the score 6-0. A single by
CJ McCarthy brought in
the seventh run. Oswego's eighth run scored following a sacrifice fly to left field.
Bases were loaded in the top of the fifth and
Jelani Hamer reached first from an infield error and
later advanced to second while two runners made it home amidst the chaos. The Lakers were
able to bring in an additional run to raise the score to 11-0.
With two outs and bases loaded, the Red Dragons walked the batter for the third time that
inning which brought in run number 12. The Lakers benefitted and took advantage of the
constant pitching changes by Oneonta. In the bottom of the sixth with a runner on first, the next
batter hit a double. With runners on second and third, the following batter hit a double to left
center that brought in two runs to put Oneonta on the board.
Jacob Sanders limited the Red
Dragons to five hits in his time at the mound;
Devin Campbell came in to relieve him. Bases
were loaded after a hit by pitch. Following a double play, the lead runner scored. A wild pitch led
Oneonta to score run number four. At the end of the inning the score was 12-4 with Oswego on
top.
The Red Dragons had runners on second and third in the bottom of the seventh. The next batter
hit a single to bring in the lead runner for run number five. Later in the inning, with bases now
loaded, Oneonta hit a grand slam over center field to bring the score to 12-9, giving them a
glimmer of hope.
In the top of the eighth,
Brian Brezosky singled to center field and later stole second. Trey
McGowan hit a double to center field, contributing an RBI. In the bottom of the inning, an
Oneonta runner stole second, and the next batter hit a double to bring in a run, making the
score 13-10.
In the top of the final inning, Oneonta held Oswego scoreless. With two outs, the Red Dragons
had the bases loaded and Oswego got the final out to secure the win.
