Utica, NY -The Lakers men's & women's indoor track & field teams opened their season this Saturday at the Utica Holiday Classic.

HIGHLIGHTS
Elena Gaffney finished first in the women's 5000m (18:05.86) followed closely by her teammate Hannah Reichard (18:39.54) in second. Gaffney's time is good enough for a new indoor record for the Lakers for the women's 500m indoor. These times were also good enough to qualify both athletes for regionals.

In the men's mile, Nehemiah Daniel finished 2^nd overall with a time of 4:28.22. Noah Melita took 6^th place with a time of 4:31.39.

Angelina Buttigieg finished 9^th overall in the women's 600m with a time of 1:51.91. For the men, Tom Mahunik finished 5^th overall in the 600m with a time of 1:24.78.

In the women's 2000, Sabrina Schmitt finished 8^th overall with a time of 27.39.

Kyra Pellegrino finished with a time of 10:50.73 in the women's 3000m which was good enough to place her 3^rd overall.

The women's 4x200 team on Sabrina Schmitt, Daiya Kowalski, Alexie Tschanz, and Teagan Roy finished 7^th overall with a time of 2:14.51.

The women's 4x800 team of Angelina Buttigieg, Julay Mustafa, Grace Stevens and Sophia Shatynski finished 2^nd overall with a time of 12:29.78.

The men's 4x800 team of Nehemiah Daniel, Noah Melita, TJ Bowes, and Tom Mahunik finished 3^rd overall with a time of 8:44.97.

Cory Morton took home 8^th in the men's long jump with a score of 6.56.

Kaleigh Durso finished 6^th overall in the women's high jump with a score of 1.48.
