OSWEGO, NY – SUNY Oswego Athletics proudly announces the student-athletes of the month for February 2025. Congratulations to Jayna Laferriere of the women's swimming & diving  and Brandon Cohen of the men's ice hockey team for their outstanding performances.

Jayna Laferriere
Laferriere dominated in the pool at the SUNYAC Championships, securing gold in the women's 100 freestyle with an impressive time of 52.46 seconds. She also showcased her versatility by finishing second in both the 50 freestyle (24.11) and 200 freestyle (1:57.10). Additionally, Laferriere played a crucial role in the women's 200 freestyle relay team, which claimed a strong second-place finish. Jayna completed her junior season this year and is from Burnt Hills, New York.

Brandon Cohen
On the ice, Brandon Cohen delivered an outstanding month for the Lakers, tallying eight goals and two assists. His offensive prowess helped drive the team's success, earning him the well-deserved Athlete of the Month. As a freshman, Cohen was recently named to the All-Rookie team in the SUNYAC. He Currently leads the Conference in goals and is tied for third in points. Cohen comes to the Lakers from Toronto, Ontario.

The men's ice hockey team will host the Plattsburgh Cardinals this Saturday at 7:00 PM in the SUNYAC Championship.
