HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
Oswego wasted no time getting on the board, plating a run in the first inning after McGowan drew a walk and later came around to score on Featherstones RBI single. While the offense went quiet for the next few innings, the Lakers managed to retake the lead in the sixth. Featherstone sparked the rally again with a double, followed by a Winchester double, and a sacrifice fly from Rosenberg made it 2–1.
After Plattsburgh tied the game in the top of the ninth, Oswego responded quickly in the bottom half. Sander, pinch hitting for May, singled and stole second before scoring the go-ahead run on McGowan's second hit of the day—a clutch RBI single to left that sent the home dugout into celebration mode.
Sanders was dominant, tossing a complete game with 9 strikeouts, allowing just 4 hits and 2 earned runs. His efficient 95-pitch outing kept the Plattsburgh bats mostly silent and gave Oswego's offense a chance to come through late.
Game 2
After falling behind in the sixth inning, Oswego clawed back thanks to timely hitting and heads-up baserunning. Sophomore Winchester played a pivotal role at the plate, going 2-for-4 with an RBI double in the eighth that tied the game. Rosenberg added a clutch single that pushed the go-ahead run to third, setting the stage for Oswego to take the lead on a wild pitch and an RBI groundout by Barone.
Starter
Joel Hayner turned in a workhorse performance on the mound, going eight innings, scattering nine hits, and striking out nine to earn the win. He battled through a rocky sixth inning where Plattsburgh briefly took the lead on a triple by Kornblau and a single from Cremin. But Hayner buckled down and kept the Cardinals off the board in the critical seventh before handing the ball to
Owen Hoyt, who shut the door in the ninth for the save.
Offensively, Oswego racked up 10 hits, with Rosenberg leading the way with a 3-for-4 showing and a stolen base. Tom McGowan added a pair of hits, including a double, and Tanner Harrington and Barone each notched an RBI.
