OSWEGO, NY – The Lakers once again took on the RIT Tigers this season. Today, they were on the road visiting Rochester, NY for a 3:00 PM game.
THE BASICS
Final Score
Oswego 9 (19-11, 8-4 SUNYAC)
RIT 5 (20-11,9-6 Liberty League)
Tiger Stadium, Rochester, NY
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lakers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, scoring in six of the first seven innings.
Trey McGowan set the tone at the top of the order, going a perfect 4-for-4 with a double, two RBIs, a walk, and two stolen bases. Oswego racked up 15 hits, swiped seven bases, and capitalized on four RIT errors to secure the win.
After a run in the first on a RIT throwing error, the Lakers added another in the third thanks to
Tishawn Featherstone, who singled, stole third, and scored on a wild pitch. A three-run fifth inning blew the game open, featuring an RBI single from
Ben Rollison and a two-run knock from McGowan to make it 7–2.
The bullpen was steady behind starter
Jai Sharma, who earned his first win of the season with two scoreless innings. Oswego used seven pitchers total, with
Matt Carner,
Alek Conrad, and
Jordan Goble holding RIT in check during the later innings.
RIT made a late push, cutting the deficit to 9–5 with a two-run homer in the eighth and an RBI double in the ninth, but Oswego's early offense and aggressive baserunning proved too much to overcome.
Featherstone, May, and Winchester all added RBIs, while Sander and Ynoa each had hits and scored in the later innings.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will host SUNY Oneonta this Friday for the first game of a three-game series starting at 3:00 PM.
