LEBANON, PA - The SUNY Oswego men's golf team was in Pennsylvania this Friday for the third round of the Empire 8 Championships.
THE BASICS
Empire 8 Championship
Lebanon Country Club, Lebanon, PA
(Par 72)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tyler Donohue (+9, 81)
Donohue was the top performer for Oswego, shooting a 41 on the front and a 40 on the back. A birdie on the par-5 2nd was a highlight, and he kept mistakes to a minimum with consistent bogeys and pars throughout the round.
- Evan McDonald (+13, 85)
McDonald finished strong with a 44 on the back nine. A double bogey on hole 7 and a few bogeys hurt his score, but he showed resilience and composure on the greens.
- Mike Douglas (+13, 85)
Matching McDonald's 85, Douglas found some consistency with a pair of birdies on holes 2 and 15. However, a few big numbers kept him from going lower despite solid ball striking.
- Dante Cassella (+14, 86)
Cassella had an even front nine at 42 and battled through the back nine to shoot a 44. His birdie on the par-3 13th showed his ability to bounce back under pressure.
- John O'Neill (+20, 92)
O'Neill carded a 47 on the front and a 45 on the back. He found several double bogeys, particularly on holes 2 and 6, but managed to finish with a stretch of bogeys to limit further damage.
- Tyler Simonetti (+26, 98)
Simonetti had a rough front nine (53), followed by a slightly improved 45 on the back. A birdie on hole 3 was a bright spot in a round that included several big numbers.
