HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lakers came out strong in doubles play, setting the tone early. The No. 1 duo of
Anthony Marcano and
Matthew Mannara delivered a clutch 8-6 win over Nazareth's Max Funiciello and Griffin Bond. After dropping the No. 2 doubles match, Oswego bounced back quickly at the No. 3 spot, where
Austin Davis and Jose Miguel powered past their opponents 8-5 to give Oswego a 2–1 lead heading into singles.
From there, the Lakers dominated.
Marcano showcased his elite form in the top singles match, winning in straight sets (6-4, 6-4) over Bond. Mannara followed with a gritty three-set victory at No. 2, rebounding from a second-set slip to shut out Funiciello in the decider. Davis clinched the championship for Oswego with a hard-fought three-set win at No. 3, sealing the 5–1 team result.
While the remaining singles matches went unfinished due to the clinch, Oswego had strong starts in those as well—particularly from Jose Miguel at No. 5, who took the first set 6–0 before the match was called.
With the win, Oswego not only claims conference supremacy but also sends a resounding message about the program's upward trajectory. The Lakers now look ahead to the NCAA Tournament with momentum and confidence.
