OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's volleyball team opened the 2025 Oswego Lakers Invitational in style on Friday, sweeping both Brockport and Keuka inside Laker Hall's Ziel Gym to kick off the two-day event with authority.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Match 1: Oswego 3, Brockport 0 (25-14, 25-23, 25-21)
The Lakers set the tone for the tournament with a decisive sweep over Brockport in the afternoon session. Oswego's balanced attack kept the Golden Eagles on their heels from start to finish, with the team hitting .275 overall while holding Brockport to just .142.
Grace Gdovin fueled the offense with 10 kills on .348 hitting and 12 digs, while
Kalley Vugteveen added 10 kills at a blistering .471 clip along with four blocks.
Priscilla McReynolds also chipped in nine kills, and setter
Mya Bush tallied 29 assists and a pair of blocks. Defensively,
CJ Eidem anchored the back row with 13 digs as the Lakers closed out tight second and third sets to complete the sweep.
Match 2: Oswego 3, Keuka 0 (25-23, 26-24, 25-14)
After a brief break, the Lakers returned to the floor and carried their momentum into the evening matchup against Keuka. Oswego showed composure in the opening two sets, pulling out narrow wins before dominating the third to put the match away.
McReynolds once again paced the attack with nine kills, while Vugteveen contributed seven more kills at a .316 efficiency and a team-high five blocks. Dudzinski added six kills, and Bush guided the offense with 16 assists. On defense, Eidem turned in a stellar performance with 23 digs, helping Oswego limit Keuka to just .058 hitting across the match.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will play two more matches tomorrow on the second day of the invitational. First at 10:00 AM against Western Connecticut State and then 4:00 PM against Utica.
