LEWISBURG, PA. – The SUNY Oswego men's golf team opened play at The Gauntlet, hosted by Bucknell Golf Club, with a steady showing in round one. The Lakers were led by
Sam Ligas, who fired a 72 to pace the squad.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Ligas' round was highlighted by consistency across both nines, carding a 36 on the front and matching it with a 36 on the back, finishing the day just two shots over par and in strong position heading into round two.
Jack Shaw provided another quality score for the Lakers, turning in a 74 (+4). Shaw bounced back after a +3 front nine with a composed +1 back nine to keep Oswego competitive in the standings.
Close behind was
Tyce Helmick, who posted a 75 (+5). Helmick's round included stretches of clean play that will give him momentum to build upon as the tournament continues.
Justin Alvord rounded out Oswego's scoring four with a 79 (+9). After a tough stretch on the front nine, Alvord regrouped and found rhythm on the back, playing it just +3.
Evan McDonald fought through a challenging day, finishing with an 87 (+17), but his effort added a birdie on the par 5 9
th.
With solid performances from Ligas, Shaw, and Helmick, Oswego sits in a competitive spot after the first round of play. The Lakers will look to climb the leaderboard in round two tomorrow at Bucknell Golf Club.
