HOW IT HAPPENED
Zhane Holmes was nearly unstoppable, leading all scorers with 26 points on 11-of-18 shooting, including four triples, to eclipse the 1,000-career point milestone.
The Lakers' veteran leadership was on full display throughout the contest.
Giavanna White-Principio was a force on the glass, hauling down a game-high 15 rebounds to go along with 8 points.
Jena Russo provided an efficient spark in the starting lineup, contributing 8 points and two blocks, while
Sydney Hoefs orchestrated the offense beautifully by dishing out a game-high 6 assists. Even the Laker bench made significant contributions to the festive atmosphere, outscoring the Buffalo State reserves 27-6, led by
Delaney Wiley's perfect shooting performance for 7 points.
After a neck-and-neck first quarter that ended in a 14-14 tie, Oswego State completely took over the momentum. The Lakers found their rhythm in the second frame, outscoring the Bengals 24-8 to take a 16-point lead into the locker room. The Laker defense was the story of the second half, stifling Buffalo State to just 5 points in the third quarter. Oswego dominated the "hustle stats" across the board, finishing with 17 points off turnovers and 19 second-chance points. It was a fitting finale for the senior class, who left the court to a standing ovation with a 31-point victory.
