Clarkson: 14 (1-1, 0-0 Liberty League)

How It Happened
The Lakers came out firing Saturday afternoon, seizing control early behind a dominant first quarter from Alexis Hill. Hill netted back-to-back goals to open the scoring, and after Aubri Greene added one of her own, Hill completed the hat trick to give the Lakers a commanding 4-0 advantage.

Clarkson answered with a free-position goal following a Laker foul and capitalized on a turnover late in the frame to cut the deficit to 4-2 by the end of the first quarter. Cassidy Croce responded early in the second with a clutch man-up goal to push the lead to 5-2, but momentum quickly shifted. A string of missed clears and turnovers allowed the Golden Knights to rattle off four straight goals, surging ahead 6-5.

Despite the swing, goalkeeper Alana Iacovissi kept the Lakers within striking distance with several key saves throughout the half. Her efforts were rewarded when Addison Costello buried a late goal to even the score at 6-6 heading into halftime.

Clarkson carried that momentum into the second half, opening on a 2-0 run to build an 8-6 edge. Gianna Zerrillo halted the surge with a timely goal, and the third quarter evolved into a back-and-forth battle. After a Clarkson tally, Croce and Hill answered to knot the game at 9-9. However, a late Golden Knights goal just before the end of the third gave Clarkson a 10-9 lead entering the final quarter.

That late strike proved pivotal. Clarkson opened the fourth with four unanswered goals, stretching the margin to 14-9 as the Lakers struggled to regain their rhythm amid continued clearing issues and turnovers.

Madison Wood and Kylie Fritton each found the back of the net late to cut the deficit to 14-11, but the rally came up short. In a contest that swung dramatically through three quarters, a difficult fourth period ultimately proved decisive as the Golden Knights pulled away for the 14-11 victory.

What's Next

The Lakers will be back in action on Tuesday when they take on the Geneseo Knights.
