HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1

Jonah Shearer got the start on the mound for Oswego, and delivered a lights out first inning, throwing just seven pitches. Shearer continued his performance in the second and third innings, allowing just two hits up to that point.

The Lakers offense struggled as well through the first three innings, they were unable to record a single hit.

In the top of the fourth, Daniel Winchester found a gap in left field, recording a double, and the Lakers first hit of the morning. He would advance to third on a ground-out from Brogan Olson, but was left on base as Andrew Dempsey grounded out to first to finish the inning.

After a walk and a pair of errors from the Lakers, a sacrifice ground-out would advance Centenary's runner home, giving them a 1-0 lead through the fourth inning.

In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, Jonah Shearer would hit the batter with his pitch, handing a free run to Centenary, and doubling the lead to 2-0. Shearer would then make way for Aiden Kerr, who let up one more run before closing out the inning.

In the top of the eighth Ryan Mayer was walked to start out the inning. Daniel Winchester followed suit, advancing Mayer to second with no outs of the board. Brogan Olson doubled to left field after an out, bringing Mayer home, and making it a 3-1 ball game, and forcing a pitching change for Centenary.

Still in the eight, Matt Carner was walked, loading the bases for the Lakers with just one out. Ben Rollison recorded a 3-RBI Triple, which he grounded straight to the pitcher. A bobble on the mound, and an error at first allowed Rollison to advance to third, clearing the bases, and putting the Lakers ahead 4-3. Jordan Ynoa would then single to right field, scoring Rollison, and extending Oswego's lead to 5-3.

The Lakers would find themselves with the bases loaded again in the eighth inning, this time with two outs, and another new Centenary pitcher. Daniel Winchester would hit a 3-RBI double, scoring Ryan Mayer, Ricky Fasitta and Hudson Meyer. Harry Uvena would then single through the right side, scoring Winchester from second, and giving the Lakers a 9-3 lead before the end of the inning.

Centenary would get 4 runs back in the bottom of the ninth, but the chasm was too wide as the Lakers prevailed 9-7.

Game 2
Oswego threatened right away in the top of the first inning when Ryan Mayer opened the game with a single and Harry Uvena followed with another base hit to put two runners on. However, Salisbury starter Tyler Villa worked out of the jam to keep the game scoreless.

The Sea Gulls struck first in the bottom half of the inning. After a walk and bunt single set the table, Max Ehrhardt delivered a two-run single to center field to give Salisbury a 2–0 lead.

Oswego responded in the second. Brendan Mair and TJ Harrington reached to start the frame before a sacrifice fly from Grayson Giddings brought Mair home, trimming the deficit to 2–1.

Salisbury added two more runs in the bottom of the second to extend the lead to 4–1, but the Lakers again chipped away in the fourth inning. Mair singled for his second hit of the day and eventually scored on an RBI groundout from Giddings to make it a 4–2 ballgame.

The game turned in the bottom of the fourth when Salisbury erupted for eight runs on six hits, highlighted by a two-run triple from Jay Newton and a grand slam from Nathan Tondreault. The outburst pushed the Sea Gulls' lead to 12–2 and put the game out of reach.

Mair paced the Lakers offensively, finishing 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Mayer, Uvena, Harrington, Daniel Winchester, and Ricky Fasitta each added a hit as Oswego totaled seven on the afternoon.
