BALTIMORE, MD. - The SUNY Oswego Softball team traveled to Baltimore to take on Notre Dame of Maryland University after starting the season out 2-0 yesterday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1

Kira Wright started the game off being walked.
Grace DiPalma was then hit by a pitch, and
Kayla Doerre walked on a full count, loading the bases with no outs.
Ryin Perico reached first on a fielder's choice, with both
Kira Wright and
Grace DiPalma both scoring, and making it 2-0 in the first.

In the top of the second,
Mackenzie Carlson reached first on an error.
Delaney Wiley was walked, and the pair stole second and third, respectively.
Grace DiPalma then added 2 more runs with a 2-RBI double. After advancing to third on a wild pitch,
DiPalma was driven home by
Ryin Perico, who reached first on a throwing error, improving the lead to 5-0.

Mackenzie Carlson tripled to right field to start off the third inning.
Delaney Wiley immediately followed up with an RBI-double making it 6-0.
Kira Wright made it 7-0 with an RBI-single that she bunted down the first base line.

In the top of the fourth,
Emma Budzinski was walked to start things out, then stole second.
Lillian Haggerty followed it up with an RBI-triple to right center field, making it 8-0.
Notre Dame would get two runs back in the fourth, and another in the fifth, drawing this one closer with a score of 8-3 through five innings.

Neither team would score for the rest of this one, as the Lakers held on for game 1, winning 8-3.

Game 2 was cancelled due to the weather.

WHAT'S NEXT?
The Lakers will head back to New York, and are set to face off on the road against Elmira College in a double header on Monday, March 23rd. First pitch is set for 3:00PM.
