Â
The BasicsÂ
Game 3 Final
Oswego: 4 (14-12, 10-2 SUNYAC)
New Paltz: 3 (13-11, 4-5 SUNYAC)
Location: Oswego, N.Y.
Â
How it HappenedÂ
Both starting pitchers started the game hot, as it took until the third inning for any runs to be scored, with the visitors getting on the board first. Tommy Poggi reached on a fielder's choice, and a single after that gave the Hawks a 3-0 lead.Â
Oswego scored the last four runs of the game, as a sacrifice fly from Daniel Winchester brought the game within two in the bottom of the 3rd inning. The Lakers then scored another run in the 4th inning via an error, and two more runs in the fifth inning, as Dylan Rosenberg reached by a fielder's choice, and a cleverly designed double steal play of second base and home plated the fourth run of the game.Â
Pitching on the back end of the game for the Lakers made the difference, as Matthew Krull, Cooper Klinger, and Matthew Drillings combined to keep the Hawks off the board despite multiple different base runners in various innings.Â
Krull earned the win with 6.2 innings of great pitching, allowing 7 hits with 3 runs (2 earned), striking out four batters. Matthew Drillings earned the save, shutting down New Paltz in 2.0 full innings to close the game.Â
What's NextÂ
The Lakers will continue SUNYAC play with a doubleheader against Cortland on Tuesday, April 14th, and a home non-conference contest against the University of Rochester on Wednesday, April 15th.Â
