How It Happened
Leading the way for the Lakers was
Elena Gaffney, who captured first place in the women's 10,000 meters with a time of 38:15.78. Her performance not only secured the event title but also moved her to second all-time in program history. Teammate Jessica Torrey added to the distance success with a fifth-place finish in 42:45.00.
On the men's side,
Noah Melita delivered an impressive run in the 10,000 meters, placing second overall in 33:45.26. TJ Bowes followed in eighth (36:30.72), with
Aidan Hafer close behind in ninth (36:55.90), giving Oswego three runners in the top 10.
In the men's 1,500 meters,
Jeffery Simmons paced the Lakers with a seventh-place finish in 4:08.48 (personal best), narrowly ahead of teammate Nehemiah Daniel, who took eighth in 4:11.58.
Oswego also saw solid efforts in the field events. Shea Masse led the women's hammer throwers with an 11th-place mark of 32.37, while
Rebecca Steiner recorded a throw of 27.21. On the men's side, Eric Gordon-Wheeler placed 11th in the hammer throw with a mark of 42.15.
Steiner returned to competition in the women's javelin, earning a seventh-place finish with a throw of 22.13.
Neil Blaisdell represented the men in the event, recording a mark of 31.25.
In the women's long jump,
Teagan Roy posted a distance of 4.70 meters, followed closely by
Riley Flynn at 4.66 meters.

The Lakers will head back to Cortland tomorrow for day 2 of the Cortland Classic.
