Lakers Don't Allow A Run, Go 2-0 at Fredonia

Gowanda, NY - The Lakers, after five days of rest, traveled into Gowanda, NY to square off against the Blue Devils of Fredonia. Oswego's pitching was excellent through and through as they didn't allow a run all day and walked away 2-0.

GAME 1:
BASICS
Oswego 6 (16-13, 12-3 SUNYAC)
Fredonia 0 (6-20, 5-8 SUNYAC)
Hillis Field | Gowanda, NY

HOW IT HAPPENED
Oswego kicked off Sunday afternoon baseball with an opening inning run from Brogan Olsen. He infield singled to score Emil Sander and the Lakers had an early 1-0 lead.

Oswego didn't let off the gas as they continued to build on their lead in the top of the second. Brendan Mair doubled to get into scoring position. Matt Carner would walk directly after, and Hudson Meyer singled to send in Mair. Quickly after, Emil Sander continued his good game with a squeeze play to score Carner. Oswego jumped on the Blue Devils with a 3-0 lead after two.

In the top of the third, Oswego got more insurance. This time they capitalized on Blue Devil errors. Dylan Rosenberg scored on a passed ball and after Mair would score on a shortstop error. The Lakers now had a 5-0 lead.

Oswego bent but didn't break with defense holding Fredonia to just three hits in the next three innings.

The Lakers again would take advantage of Fredonia mistakes as Daniel Winchester scored on a passed ball in the sixth inning.

Oswego closed it out with excellent pitching from Aiden Kerr in the final inning as he allowed no hits. The Lakers made a statement in game one, winning 6-0.

WIN - Mason Sands (5-1)
LOSS - Morgan Zientara (1-4)

GAME 2:
BASICS
Oswego 3 (17-13, 13-3 SUNYAC)
Fredonia 0 (6-21, 5-9 SUNYAC)
Hillis Field | Gowanda, NY

HOW IT HAPPENED
Scoring was scarce to kick off game two in the double header. Oswego did have a good chance in the top of the second with a runner on third, but they weren't able to pick up an RBI and the score remained knotted at 0.

The Lakers had another chance to snatch the lead when they had runners on 2nd and 3rd in the top of the fourth. A strike-out followed by a fly out would ultimately spoil it.

Jonah Shearer was excellent in the first bit of the game as the first Fredonia hit came to the bottom of the fourth. Although the base knock, Oswego would double them up on the next batter and nothing came out of it.

Oswego finally got the scoring going in the top of the sixth when Grayson Giddings squeezed in Thomas Harrington. The Lakers now led 1-0.

Oswego would tally another run the top of the eighth as Giddings picked up his second RBI on the day. It was a double that scored Harrington and the one-two punch of Giddings and Harrington struck again.

The Lakers added one more run in the top of the eight on a fielder's choice. Andrew Dempsey was awarded the RBI as Ryan Mayer scored.

Shearer carried his dominance into the second portion of the game, while Drillings shut the door in the bottom of the ninth. The duo combined for a two-hit masterpiece.

WIN - Jonah Shearer (4-1)
LOSS - Nick Syposs (0-3)
