Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Greene leads a 7-goal second half to win their fifth straight game

Oswego, N.Y. - The Oswego State Women's Lacrosse Team was victorious over the Oneonta Red Dragons, 9-2.

The Basics
Final
Oswego: 9 (8-4, 5-0 SUNYAC)
Oneonta: 2 (6-5, 3-3 SUNYAC)
Location: Oswego, N.Y. | Laker Turf Stadium

How it Happened
The game was a slow start, as both teams played excellent defense to begin the game. Oswego was able to get on the scoreboard twice, as Milena Vassallo (Orchard Park, N.Y. Hamburg High School) and Alexis Hill (Windsor, NY Windsor High School) found the back of the net.

The second quarter saw Oneonta take control of the game, scoring twice with Ava Fitzsimmons, who leads the Red Dragons in goals this season. Oneonta also kept Oswego off the board in the second quarter with excellent defensive plays to take us into halftime tied at 2 apiece.

It didn't take long for Oswego to come out of halftime with a vengeance, as Aubri Greene (Penn Yan, NY Penn Yan Academy) scored her first of four second half goals to take the lead, a lead which the Lakers would ride until the final horn sounded. Alexis Hill added the final of two third quarter goals.

The fourth quarter saw a barrage of offensive pressure and eventually, goals by the Lakers. All five fourth quarter goals were by both Greene and Cassidy Croce (Croton Hudson, N.Y. Croton-Harmon High School), who joined the scoresheet with just over halfway gone in the frame.

Finally, in net, Alana Iacovissi (Rome, NY Rome Free Academy) made 9 saves, surrendering just 2 goals in the effort, as she continues to add excellent performances under her belt.

What's Next
The Lakers continue SUNYAC play right at home this Wednesday, April 8th. They will host Buffalo State, looking for their sixth consecutive win. The opening draw is set for 4:00 P.M.
