OSWEGO, N.Y. —
Daniel Colabufo has been appointed interim assistant coach of the SUNY Oswego men's ice hockey program, effective August 2026. Colabufo steps into the role after serving as the Fred Festa Graduate Assistant Coach this past season. Having recently transitioned from player to coach, he provides strong relatability with student-athletes while maintaining the professionalism and accountability essential to the program's continued success.

Daniel Colabufo is someone I've known for a long time, and I've had the privilege of coaching him both as a player and now working alongside him as a coach. He brings a tremendous amount of youthful energy to our program and has built a great rapport with our players through his authenticity and passion for Oswego hockey. Daniel is professional, knowledgeable, and leads by example every day. He is an outstanding role model for our student-athletes, and I'm excited for the continued impact he will have on our program."
As the Fred Festa Graduate Assistant Coach, Colabufo assisted in all areas of the program, including video analysis, practice planning, recruiting, and skill development. Drawing on his playing experience, leadership background, and academic success, he was able to have an immediate impact in shaping the next generation of Lakers.

Colabufo's playing career at Oswego was defined by consistency, production, and leadership. Serving as an assistant captain during his senior season, he finished among the team's offensive leaders and earned First Team All-SUNYAC honors. His impact extended far beyond the ice.
In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Colabufo distinguished himself in the classroom and throughout the community. He was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma and recognized as an American Hockey Coaches Association All-American Scholar for his academic achievements. He also led the team in community service during each of his three seasons with the program. Together, these accomplishments reflect the well-rounded excellence he demonstrated as a student-athlete and leader.
SUNY Oswego's men's ice hockey program has a long-standing history of success within NCAA Division III, with a focus on competitive excellence, sportsmanship, and student-athlete achievement.
