Oswego State Athletics

In the month of February, Grygas and the Oswego State Lakers participated in four regular season matches as well as the NCAA Regionals. This season at the 174 weight class, Grygas has an overall record of 29-1 with 11 coming from major decisions, three technical falls and five falls.

Starting off the month against King's College at home in Lee Hall, Grygas took down Kade Kravitz by major decision 15-4, earning the Lakers 4 team points. The 174 powerhouse took down Kenny Sauer of Oneonta by major decision on February 8 by  a match score of 15-7. Grygas continued the offensive style dominance against SUNY Cortland at home in Max Ziel Gymnasium just three days later with a major decision victory over Pat Ross by score of 10-2. 

The Delanson, N.Y. native has continued his trend of NCAA Championship appearances this year by winning the NCAA Mideast Regionals at the 174 weight class on Saturday February 25th. At the Mideast Regionals, Grygas scored the Lakers 20.0 team points. Grygas took down Mehlenberg's Anson Dewar in the 1st place match by 5-2 decision. On to the semifinals, Charlie took a 7-5 decision over Elizabethtown College's Ganon Smith. In the quarterfinals, an opponent seen just weeks before in Kenny Sauer of Oneonta State was no match for Grygas as he took the major decision victory 14-6. Winning Grygas the 174 weight class title was a 23-10 decision over RIT's Ben Dougherty. 

Grygas will compete in the NCAA Championship for a third consecutive year this upcoming Friday and Saturday March 10th and 11th in search of his first national championship title. Going into the NCAA Championship, Charlie's rankings are as follows by respective organizations:
