Elmira College scored three power-play goals in a 5-1 win over Oswego State at Romney Field House on Friday night. The visiting Soaring Eagles are now 2-0-0 on the season, while Oswego State fell to 1-2-0 thus far. The same two teams will play on Saturday at Elmira's Murray Athletic Center.
Soaring Eagles senior captain Brandon Rose had a goal and three assists in the victory, and sophomore goaltender Raphael Cundari made 29 saves to pick up the win.
Ryan Woodward had the lone tally for Oswego State, as he banged in a rebound on the power play early in the third period. Ryan Koresky assisted on that goal. Ryan Scott, Oswego State's sophomore
goaltender, made 29 saves.
Justin Joy scored the only goal of the first period, a power-play goal with 21 seconds remaining in the period. Rose and Nicolas Dumoulin assisted.
Elmira scored another power-play goal in the second period. Tyler Cann netted his first of the season as Rose and Dumoulin assisted again.
Woodward's goal 3:16 into the third pulled the Lakers to within one, but the two-goal lead was re-established when Ryan Arnone scored the Soaring Eagles' third power-play goal of the night. Michael Richard added an unassisted goal for Elmira late in the third period, and Rose rounded out the scoring with an empty-net goal.
