The Oswego State hockey team won for the sixth time in six outings and remained perfect in SUNYAC play with a 7-1 win over Cortland at Romney Field House in Oswego on Wednesday.
Ryan Woodward had four goals and an assist to lead the Lakers to the victory. Oswego State is now 7-2-0 on the season and 5-0-0 in SUNYAC play. Cortland fell to 1-8-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the conference.
Woodward's four-goal effort marked the fifth game in a row that an Oswego State player has recorded a hat trick. Brendan McLaughlin opened the scoring with his team-leading 10th goal for the Lakers just 1:05 into the contest and the Lakers never looked back.
Freshmen Kyle McCutcheon and Francois Gagnon scored their first collegiate goals for Oswego State.
The Cortland goal was a power-play goal by Matt Schillace assisted by Nick Catanzaro and Matt Goslant early in the third period.
Jocelyn Dubord had four assists, Ryan Ellis had three assists, and Ryan Koresky and C.J. Thompson had two assists each.
Ryan Scott made 19 saves for the Lakers and Matt Meacham stopped 36 shots for Cortland.
The Lakers, currently ranked seventh in the nation, are home on Friday against Wentworth and Saturday against Curry. Both games start at 7 p.m.
