Sophomore forward
Brendan McLaughlin had six points to lead the Oswego State men's ice hockey team to an 8-0 win over visiting Fredonia in SUNYAC play at the Campus Center Ice Arena.
McLaughlin scored twice and had four assists for the No. 4 Lakers, who remained perfect on the season with a 7-0-0 overall record and a 3-0-0 mark in the SUNYAC. Laker junior goalie Ryan Scott made 19 saves for his first shutout this season and the fourth of his career.
Oswego State scored a pair of power-play goals in the first period to take a lead they would never relinquish. Sophomore Garren Reisweber opened the scoring with his team-leading seventh goal of the season. McLaughlin then scored with the Lakers on 5-on-3 power play. Ryan Ellis scored in the first minute of the second period and Oswego State never looked back.
Rick Varone added a short-handed goal for the Lakers and Tony DiNunzio and Peter Magagna also scored for Oswego State.
The Lakers host Buffalo State on Saturday at the Campus Center Ice Arena. Game time is 7 p.m.
