The Oswego State baseball team lost to Ithaca 11-4 on Tuesday afternoon at Freeman Field in Ithaca.
The Bombers won behind the strength of two big innings. Ithaca scored four runs in the bottom of the second and five in the bottom of the fourth.
Oswego State jumped out to 1-0 advantage in the top of the first when Nick Marzullo singled to left field, driving in Anthony Coromato with two outs.
The Bombers scored the next 10 runs of the game before Oswego State tacked on single runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings. Coromato, Chris Raudnael, and Nick Perioli had RBIs for the Lakers. Jake Alsheimer and Tom Grace had two hits each to lead the Lakers at the plate.
Chris Daley took the loss for the Lakers. He pitched into the fourth inning and yielded nine runs on seven hits. Six of the nine runs were earned. Rob Johnson threw three innings in relief and allowed just one run on three hits. He had three strikeouts and walked two batters. Adam Harendza pitched the last two innings.
Oswego State is now 4-7 on the season while Ithaca is 9-3.
The Lakers open the SUNYAC portion of their schedule this weekend by hosting a pair of double-headers. Fredonia visits Oswego State on Saturday and Cortland comes to town on Sunday. Both double-headers begin at noon.
