Saints pull away in second half to defeat Lakers

The Oswego State women's lacrosse team lost to St. Lawrence 11-5 on Tuesday afternoon at Laker Field in Oswego. The visiting Saints scored the first six goals of the second half to build a 10-2 lead at that point and earned their first victory of the season. St. Lawrence is now 1-4 on the year and Oswego State fell to 0-5.

A goal by Oswego State's Jessica Maltese with 10:01 remaining in the first half tied the score 2-2, but the Saints took control from that point forward. They tallied twice before halftime and then scored six straight after the break.

Oswego State's offense was paced by  Jessica Maltese with two goals and Tricia McNeilly with a goal and an assist. Also scoring for Oswego State were Ashley Anderson and Laura Dorsey. Lauren Burrows had three saves for the Lakers and Ashley Perkins made two saves.

Meghan Clement had three goals and two assists for the Saints, and Alanna Waters added three goals for the Saints. Susanna Whitaker-Rahilly added two goas and an assist to help St. Lawrence to the victory. St. Lawrence goaltender Cynthia Saul made eight saves and Ali Mattison made two saves.

The Lakers' next game is at home Saturday at 1 p.m. against RIT.
