The Oswego State men's tennis team won its first match of the season by defeating visiting Utica College 6-0 on Wednesday afternoon in Oswego. The Lakers claimed five of six singles matches and all three doubles matches to earn the victory. The first singles match was declared a draw by the coaches and players after darkness forced the cancellation of the third set.
Winning in singles play for the Lakers were Jason Marlette, Emmanual Ezenwa, Ron Slater, Paul D'Addio, and Nate Wood.
The Lakers doubles teams swept all three matches to earn one team point. At first doubles, Ryan Thomas and Dave Perl defeated Mike Zielinski and Paul Alexander 8-5. The second doubles tandem of Marlette and D'Addio defeated Utica's Neilans and Russel 8-5. At third doubles, Todd Wojnowski and Ryan Mott downed Lougheed and Adam Kudic 8-3.
