Lakers earn key win against Brockport

The Oswego State women's lacrosse team defeated visiting Brockport 6-3 on Friday afternoon on a rain-soaked Laker Field. The win improved Oswego State's SUNYAC record to 2-1 and the Lakers have won back-to-back games for the first time this season.

Goals were hard to come by in the first half but Oswego State's Tricia McNeilly scored halfway through the period and Brooke Eldridge added a goal with six seconds left in the half to give the Lakers a 2-0 lead at the break.

Brockport rallied to tie the game on goals by Jenny Baccile and Carrie Kane. Kane's goal came with 15:48 remaining in the half. The Laker offense converted the next three goals over a span of five minutes. Ashley Anderson scored twice and Laura Dorsey added a goal in the Laker rally. Late goals from Brockport's Keli Martin and Oswego State's Jessica Maltese accounted for the final score.

Laker goalie Lauren Burrows played her finest game of the season and made 13 saves. Brockport's Jessica Dudek stopped six Laker shots.

Oswego State is 3-6 overall and looks to extend its winning streak to three games at nationally-ranked Cortland on Tuesday. Brockport is 6-3 overall and 1-2 in the SUNYAC.
