Tom Farrell's bad-hop base hit in the bottom of the seventh inning brought in Matt Ferraro with the game-winning run as the Oswego State baseball team defeated Cortland 3-2 in the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon in Oswego. Cortland won the first game 15-3.
The Lakers are now 5-8 overall and 1-1 in the SUNYAC. Cortland is 16-4 overall and 3-1 in the conference. Oswego State hosts Fredonia for a doubleheader on Monday at noon.

The Red Dragons broke open a scoreless game with seven runs in the top of the third inning. John Giametta's grand slam highlighted the big inning. Andrew Mead hit a solo homer for the Dragons in the fourth inning.
Starting pitcher Mike Zgorzelski (1-1) earned the win. In six innings of work he struck out 11 Laker batters and allowed just two hits. One of those was a solo homer by Oswego State's Anthony Coromato.
Justin White took the loss (3-2) for Oswego State. He allowed 12 earned runs in five and a third innings.
Oswego State 3, Cortland 2
The Lakers trailed 2-1 going into the bottom of the last inning. Nick Perioli reached on a fielder's choice and came around to score on a single by Justin White. Ferraro pinch-ran for White and Farrell's bouncing grounder to third skipped through the legs of the third baseman and brought in Ferraro with the winning run.
Laker pitcher Adam Harendza (1-2) picked up his first win of the year with a complete game. He allowed two runs on eight hits and had four strikeouts.
Oswego State took the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Nick Perioli singled to center field with two outs to bring in Nick Marzullo.
Cortland scored both of its runs in the sixth inning on an RBI hit from Jim Basnight and a sacrifice fly by Shawn Ensel. Closer Nick McPartland (0-1) took the loss.
