The Oswego State baseball team lost both games of a SUNYAC doubleheader at Oneonta on Thursday afternoon. The Red Dragons won the first game 8-5 and the second game 8-1.
Oneonta 8, Oswego State 5
The Lakers started strongly with four runs in the top of the first but only scored once more over the final eight innings. Jake Alsheimer had an RBI single and Dan Pecora drove in two with a double to center field in the first-inning rally. Zack Owen also had an RBI single as Oswego State rapped six hits in the frame.
The Red Dragons scored three times in the first, tied the game with a run in the second, and went ahead for good with a pair of runs in the third.
Dave Farley added an RBI single in the fifth to plate Oswego State's final run. Laker pitcher Chris Daley went the distance and only four of the eight runs he allowed were earned. He had five strikeouts. Anthony Coromato was 4-for-5 at the plate to lead the Laker offense and Tom Grace had two hits.
Oneonta 8, Oswego State 1
The Lakers managed four hits and one run in dropping the second game. A two-out RBI single by Matt Ferraro in the second inning brought in Dan Farley with the Oswego State run.
Justin White pitched two scoreless innings in relief of starter Adam Harendza, who allowed eight runs in four innings of work.
The Lakers are now 4-10 in the SUNYAC and 12-17 overall. Oswego State will play a non-league game Monday against Utica College at Murnane Field in Utica.
