Lakers split with RIT

The Oswego State baseball team defeated RIT 6-4 in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday but lost the second game 6-4 against the Tigers.

Oswego State 6, RIT 4

Jake Alsheimer and Nick Marzullo each went 3-for-4 in leading Oswego State to the victory. Alsheimer had an RBI double in the bottom of the first inning that tied the score and an RBI single in the sixth inning to give the Lakers an insurance run. Marzullo scored three times and drove in a run with an RBI double in the fourth.

Chuck Galuski plated two runs with a single in the third that put Oswego State in front and they never trailed the rest of the way behind the complete game effort from Ryan Stiles. He allowed four runs in seven innings. None of the runs were earned as Oswego State committed three errors.

Galuski and Justin White had two hits each.

RIT 6, Oswego State 4

The Tigers scored two runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game and two runs in the eighth to win it.

After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first Oswego State scored four times in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead. Jake Alsheimer had an RBI triple and Dan Pecora and Zack Owen had RBI singles in the inning.

Adam Harendza took the loss for the Lakers in relief of starter Chris Daley. Dylan Rees pitched all eight innings and earned the win for RIT.

The Lakers are 14-21 on the season while RIT is 22-16
