The Oswego State men's ice hockey team scored a pair of goals late in the third period and defeated Fredonia 4-2 on Friday night at Steele Hall Ice Arena in Fredonia.
Senior Tony DiNunzio scored the game-winning goal with 2:58 left in the third period and added an empty-net goal for insurance.
After a scoreless first period, Ryan Ellis put Oswego State in front with a power-play goal just 28 seconds into the second period. Fredonia answered with two power-play goals of its own in a span of 51 seconds during the middle portion of the period. The Lakers tied it at 2-2 when Neil Musselwhite scored a short-handed goal late in the second period.
DiNunzio's late goals gave Oswego State the victory.
Ryan Scott made 22 saves and earned the win, as the Lakers outshot the host Blue Devils 39-24. Fredonia goalie Pat Street had 35 saves.
The Lakers, currently ranked third in the nation, are 17-1-3 overall and remained atop the SUNYAC standings with an 8-0-2 conference record. It was Oswego State's first win at Fredonia since a 2-1 win on Nov. 15, 2003, when the current members of the senior class were freshmen.
Oswego State plays at Buffalo State on Saturday at 7 p.m.
