The Oswego State women's lacrosse team lost a 9-7 game to RIT on Saturday afternoon in Rochester. The Lakers outshot RIT 32-24 in the contest, but the Tigers' goalie Kelsey Evans made 18 saves to help her team get the win.
Meredith Lerch had two goals and an assist to lead Oswego State's scoring effort in the contest, and Tricia McNeilly had a goal and an assist. Michelle MenDell, Rachel Ventresca, Ambur Misercola, and Jessica Maltese also scored in the game, while Alisha Sarubbi and Susannah Taylor had assists.
The Lakers opened the scoring early on, but RIT scored the next four goals to take a 4-1 lead. Oswego State rallied to tie the game at 4 early in the second half. Three-straight goals by the Tigers made it 7-4, but Maltese and Lerch scored for the Lakers to pull Oswego State to within one. They never managed to tie the game again.
The Lakers are now 3-3 on the season, and return to the field on April 7 when they open SUNYAC play at Geneseo.
