The Laker baseball team won a pair of SUNYAC games by sweeping SUNYIT in a doubleheader at Larry Delutis Field in Rome. The Lakers won the first game by the score of 13-8 and the second game by the score of 17-9.
Oswego State 13, SUNYIT 8
After trailing early, the Lakers scored runs in five straight innings and built a 13-1 lead. Nick Perioli and Steve Guckemus were each 4-for-5 at the plate. Guckemus had two doubles, two RBIs, and scored twice. Tom Farrell also doubled twice in the game. Justin White allowed three earned runs in eight innings and got the win on the mound.
Oswego State 17, SUNYIT 9
The Laker offense exploded for 13 runs in the first three innings, scoring four times in the first, three runs in the second, and six more in the third inning of another win over SUNYIT. Brett Shaffer, Tom Farrell, and Nick Perioli had three hits each for Oswego State in the win, and Steve Guckemus hit a three-run homer. Nate DeSantis worked all seven innings and earned the win, improving his record to 3-1 on the year.
