The Oswego State men's ice hockey team lost 3-2 in overtime at Plattsburgh on Friday night.
Brendan McLaughlin scored a first-period goal for the Lakers on an assist from Peter Magagna to give Oswego State a 1-0 lead.
Plattsburgh tied the score in the second period on a power-play goal by Dan Sliasis, but Kyle McCutcheon scored four minutes later to re-establish a Laker lead.
The Cardinals tied the score early in the third period on a goal by Eric Satim, assisted by Dylan Clarke and Mike Schiavi. Both teams had power-play opportunities late in the third period but neither could capitalize. The Cardinals outshot Oswego State 17-5 in the third period.
Ward Smith scored the game-winner for Plattsburgh 4:07 into overtime on an assist from C.J. Tozzo and Plattsburgh remained undefeated at Stafford Ice Arena on the year.
Ryan Scott made 37 saves for the Lakers.
It was Oswego State's first road loss, and the first time they lost when scoring the first goal of the game. The Lakers are now 11-5-2 on the year and are now 7-2-1 in the SUNY Athletic Conference. Plattsburgh is 17-2-0 and 10-0-0 in the SUNYAC.
Oswego State returns to action Saturday night at Potsdam at 7 p.m. The game will be televised in central and northern New York on Time Warner Sports 26 and to more than eight million homes in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania on SportsNet New York.
