Lakers defeat Morrisville, 60-52, behind Ryan's double-double

Freshman forward Kayla Ryan (Schaghticoke/Hoosick Valley) recorded her first "double-double" leading all players with 19 points and pulling down 11 rebounds as Oswego State recorded its second consecutive win with a 60 -52 triumph over Morrisville State in a SUNYAC game at Max Ziel Gymnasium on Saturday Dec. 6.

Ryan who shot 6-for-13 from the floor and 7-for-10 from the free-throw line, scored 12 points in the second half as the Lakers (4-2 overall, 2-0 SUNYAC) led 29-20 after the first half, and stretched the lead to as many as 17 points (52-35) with 9:42 to play in the second half.  The Mustangs (1-4, 0-2 SUNYAC) went on a 15-4 run to cut the lead to 56-50 with 1:09 to play, but Ryan scored Oswego's final four points to build the lead back to 10 points with 30 seconds left to play to stop Morrisville's comeback.

Sophomore guard Traci Bacon (Massena) scored 13 points, hitting three of six 3-pointers, connected on all four free-throw attempts, and dished out three assists and registered three steals, while sophomore forward Colleen McCready (Pittsford/Pittsford Mendon) contributed 10 points (8-for-10 free-throw shooting) and six rebounds.
