Oswego State falls in high-scoring game to start season

The Oswego State women's lacrosse team lost 17-15 at Hartwick on Saturday on a cold, rainy, windy afternoon to begin its season.

The Lakers were led by Michelle MenDell, who scored five goals and also had three assists. Rachel Ventresca also had five goals, with Alisha Sarubbi scoring twice for Oswego State. The other Laker goals were scored by Sara DeVona, Jessica Zenzel, and Shannon Brown. Shannon O'Brien made nine saves in goal for Oswego State.

Oswego State led 15-13 with 10 minutes left in the game, but Hartwick scored the last four goals of the contest to earn the victory. Jamie Boulton and Kelsey Campbell each scored six goals for Hartwick, who is now 1-1 on the season.

The Lakers are 0-1 on the year and will host St. Lawrence in a neutral site game on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Henninger High School.
