The Oswego State baseball team scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to earn a 3-2 win at New Paltz in the second game of a SUNY Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. New Paltz won the first game by a score of 5-1.
Oswego State is now 11-7 overall and 6-4 in the SUNYAC, with two games at Oneonta scheduled for Sunday.
New Paltz 5, Oswego State 1
The Lakers dropped the first game of the doubleheader. K.C. Reardon had two hits for Oswego State and the Laker run came in the top of the third on a sac fly by Josh Stoetzel that brought home Evan Shaffer. Dave Widrick was the losing pitcher, and Alex Jarvela pitched two scoreless innings in relief.
Oswego State 3, New Paltz 2
Trailing 2-1 entering the last inning, Oswego State scored twice to take the lead. Wes O'Connor and Tom Benedetto walked to start the rally. Brandon Wroblewski hit an RBI single to center field to tie the game, and Mike Levy hit a sacrifice fly to bring in the go-ahead run.
Andy Salvatore earned the complete-game victory, allowing one earned run on seven hits. He had three strikeouts and no walks.
