Fast start leads Brockport past Oswego State

The Oswego State women's lacrosse team lost 21-6 to visiting Brockport on Tuesday at Laker Field in Oswego. The visiting Golden Eagles scored the first seven goals of the game in the first eight minutes and never looked back.

Brockport improved to 8-3 overall and 4-2 in the SUNY Athletic Conference. Oswego State is now 5-9 and 2-4 in the conference.

The Golden Eagles built a 10-goal lead in the first 14 minutes of the contest, led 14-2 at halftime, and then scored the first two goals of the second half. The Lakers scored four of the last nine goals in the game, including two by Alisha Sarubbi.

Michelle MenDell, Susannah Taylor, Jessica Zenzel, and Colleen Ventura also scored for the Lakers.

Four Brockport players shared the goal-scoring lead with three goals each. They were Lexie Goodhart, Julia Decker, Kim Morris, and Carrie Kane. Kath Villa and Melissa Hill had two goals each. Goodhart also had four assists, with Decker and Morris dishing out two assists apiece.

Shannon O'Brien had four saves for the Lakers, and Jamie Kaminsky (4 saves) and Heidi McKay (2 saves) shared the goaltending duties for Brockport.

Oswego State plays its final home game of the season on Thursday afternoon, hosting St. John Fisher at 4 p.m.
