The Laker women's lacrosse team won 19-12 at Morrisville on Saturday afternoon.
Oswego State scored seven goals in the first half and 12 in the second half of the victory. Rachel Ventresca scored five goals for the Lakers in the victory and Colleen Ventura added four goals. Alisha Sarubbi and Sara DeVona each had three goals. Ashley Andersen (2), Jessica Zenzel, and Bri Borrow had the other Laker goals. Saubbi had four assists and Zenzel had three.
After the game was tied 2-2 through the first 10 minutes, Oswego State scored five of the next seven goals to take a 7-4 lead at the half. The host Mustangs cut the lead to 9-7 in the second half, but three straight goals from Oswego State, scored by Sarubbi, Zenzel, and Ventura, re-established the cushion. The Lakers held an 18-15 edge in draw controls and an 18-17 advantage in ground balls.
Shannon O'Brien had four saves for Oswego State, as the Lakers evened their record at 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the SUNY Athletic Conference. Morrisville is now 3-2 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
The Lakers return to action Tuesday at Fredonia.
