Rachel Ventresca (Syracuse/Henninger) scored a game-high tying four goals and surpassed the 100-goal mark for her career as the Oswego State women's lacrosse team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 19-7 victory over Morrisville State in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) matchup on Saturday, April 11 on Laker Field.
Ventresca, who scored the milestone goal unassisted at the 12:57 mark of the first half, giving the Lakers (5-5, 1-3 SUNYAC) a 7-4 lead, has 103 goals in 26 career games and is currently ranked sixth all-time at Oswego with 145 points.
Freshman Rachael Raffa (Kings Park) and junior Andrea Musso (Auburn) each tallied three goals as ten different players scored for Oswego, who jumped out to an 11-3 halftime lead as Raffa scored the last three goals of the half unassisted.
The Lakers outshot Morrisville, 22-44, controlled the ground balls, 32-18, won 17 draw controls, and scored five free-position goals (10 attempts). Freshman Erin Cummings (Valley Cottage/Nyack) and Kelly Collins (Fairport) registered two goals apiece.
Freshman goaltender Nicole Nalle (Oswego) started in goal for the Lakers and made four saves, while senior Shannon O'Brien (Syracuse/West Genesee) played the second half, also stopping four shots on net.
Senior midfielder Jennifer Caffarelli (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg) scored a game-high tying four goals for Morrisville (3-4, 1-2), who played with only 12 healthy players. Sophomore goalie Jennifer May stopped 12 shots.
Oswego takes on SUNY Potsdam in a 4 p.m. matchup on Tuesday, April 14 on Laker Field.
