Junior centerfielder Brian Stark (Rochester/Greece Athena) batted 3-for-3, scoring a pair of runs and driving in three more as Oswego State registered 13 hits and 10 runs batted in en route to a 14-5 non-conference triumph over host St. Lawrence University on Thursday, April 2. The game was a rescheduled contest from a day before due to inclement weather conditions.
Eight different players registered at least a hit for the Lakers (6-4), who held a 5-2 lead through two innings before breaking the game open with five runs on three hits and a pair of St. Lawrence errors in the third. Stark tripled to centerfield to drive in the first run of the inning. He belted a two-out single in the to drive in two of the Lakers three runs in the fifth inning to take a 13-3 lead
Senior outfielder Wes O'Connor (Savannah/Clyde-Savannah), sophomore catcher Brandon Wroblewski (Rochester/Greece Arcadia), and freshman third baseman Kane Share (Brockport) each had two hits, with O'Connor scoring three times, and Wroblewski driving in three runs.
Freshman Brady Farkas (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) picked up the win, tossing six innings with three strikeouts. Junior Mike Groth (Gates/Spencerport) pitched the final three innings, surrendering only a hit and two walks while striking out three in facing 12 batters.
Oswego returns to SUNYAC play with back-to-back weekend contest, traveling to Fredonia State for a noon doubleheader on Saturday, April 4, before returning to Laker baseball field for a noon doubleheader with The College at Brockport the following day.
