OSWEGO – Eight different players registered goals for host Oswego State, with sophomore
Cam Davoy (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) and freshman
Andy Williams (Hamburg/Eden) tallying game-highs with three goals each, en route to a 16-2 victory over SUNY Cobleskill in a non-conference matchup in Oswego.
Davoy, who also tallied a pair of assists, registered the natural hat trick after Cobleskill (1-6) tied the game at 1-1 in the opening 4:12 of the game on an unassisted goal from sophomore Kevin MacNeill (Vestal). Davoy's goals were part of an eight goal outburst for the Lakers (3-6) that stretched through the 10:34 mark of the third quarter, when Cobleskill senior Andrew Abbott (Onondaga/Thomas J. Corcoran) snapped the string with a goal off of a pass from classmate defenseman Mike Steves (Syracuse/Nottingham).
Oswego finished the game on a 7-0 run, with Williams registering his hat trick and sophomore Mike Weisenthal (Poughkeepsie/Arlington) adding a pair of scores in the fourth quarter. Senior Mike Recor (Syracuse/East Syracuse-Minoa), sophomore Dan Scarazzo (Fairport), and sophomore Spencer Mallia (Buffalo/Bishop Timon-St. Jude) also scored a pair of goals each as the Lakers (3-6) outshot Cobleskill, 53-20, held a 56-36 advantage in ground balls and won 11 of 21 faceoffs.
Oswego used three goalkeepers in the game, with junior Judd Robinson (Guilderland) playing 46:05 in getting the win, making eight saves. Junior Zach Harris (Fairport) entered the game early in the fourth quarter and made three saces, while freshman Tom Gropp (Fairport) made one save in playing the final two minutes. Cobleskill junior Robert McDonald (Amherst) made 16 saves in playing the full 60 minutes.
