Box Score
A strong first half performance was enough for the Oswego State women's basketball team to post a 61-55 road victory over the Brockport Golden Eagles. The Lakers shot a blazing hot 50.0 percent from the floor in the first half, including 6-of-12 from three-point range, to force Brockport to play from behind for most of the game. Oswego State improved to 10-8 on the season and 7-4 in the SUNYAC, while Brockport fell to 4-14 overall and 2-9 in the league.
Head coach Tracy Bruno's squad scored 12 unanswered points early in the first half to take a 15-4 lead. The run was powered by Kristen Diglio, who scored eight points on a pair of three-pointers and a layup during the stretch. A Golden Eagle layup at the end of the half sent the Lakers into the locker room with a 36-28 lead.
Oswego State held a 12-point lead with 14:55 remaining on the clock, but Brockport put together an 11-2 run to pull within three at 47-44. The Lakers answered back with a free throw from Colleen McCready, a jumper by Erin Ostrander, and a trey by Diglio to push the lead back up to 53-44 with 7:14 left. The Golden Eagles battled to cut the deficit to two points after Whitney Smith hit a three, but that would be as close as Brockport would get as Oswego State made three shots from the charity stripe in the final 27 seconds.
Kristen Diglio led the offensive attack with 16 points followed by 15 points from Kayla Ryan. Colleen McCready and Traci Bacon grabbed 10 rebounds each for the Lakers. Brockport was paced by Whitney Smith, who poured in a game-high 22 points.
