Box Score

Offense continued to be the key for the Oswego State women's lacrosse team, as it defeated host Morrisville 20-6 on Saturday afternoon. The game marked the fourth time this season that the Lakers have posted at least 20 goals in a game. Oswego State improved to 4-4 on the season, while Morrisville State dropped to 3-6 overall. The victory gives the Lakers momentum as they come back home for a four-game stretch beginning Tuesday against Cazenovia at 4 p.m.

It was another outstanding team effort for the Lakers, who boasted 14 goals in the first period.  Eleven different players contributed to the scoring with Kristen Darcy (So., East Syracuse, N.Y.) leading the way with five goals.  Bri Borrow (Jr., Oswego, N.Y.) also added three, while Jessica Zenzel (Sr., Johnson City, N.Y.), Stephanie Cronk (Fr., Endwell, N.Y.) and Kelly Collins (So., Fairport, N.Y.) all netted two a piece.

On two separate occasions, the Lakers went on a 5-0 run with Darcy netting three consecutive goals in the first stint.

Along with the strong offensive performance, the Lakers played well defensively allowing Morrisville only eight shot attempts in the first period and forcing the Mustangs to commit 17 turnovers.  Oswego State headed into half-time with a decisive 14-3 lead.

The pace of the game slowed down in the second half, but the Lakers were too strong for Morrisville to make a come-back.  Darcy added two more goals entering the half to give Oswego State a 13-point lead.  The Lakers never let up and went on a 3-0 run to end the contest and solidify the 20-6 victory.
