The Oswego State bats came alive as the Lakers swept SUNY Cobleskill 8-5 and 5-3 on Wednesday in Oswego. In game one, Oswego State scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to erase a three-run deficit. The Lakers crossed home plate in four innings to pick up the victory. Freshman Mike Tarnowski (Dunkirk, N.Y.) had a big day at the plate going 4-for-7 with three RBI and two runs scored for Oswego State, which improved to 12-8 overall. Cobleskill dropped to 2-19 overall.

Trailing 4-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning of the first game, Kane Share (So., Brockport, N.Y.) started the Laker rally with a lead-off walk followed by a double off the bat of Dan Slate (Sr., Poughkeepsie, N.Y.).  Later in the at-bat, Tarnowski delivered a single that drove in two more runs to tie the game at 4-4. Oswego State added three more runs before the inning was over to take a 7-4 lead.

Each team scored a run in the sixth, but Cobleskill went down in order in the top of the seventh to give the Lakers the win.  Chris Nyman (Fr., Clifton Park, N.Y.) earned the win in relief after pitching 2.1 innings.  Greg Shreders (Jr., Poughquag, N.Y.) started the game on the mound completing 4.1 innings and giving up one earned run on five hits.  Mike Groth (Sr., Rochester, N.Y.) struck out the last batter of the game to record the save.

With the second game knotted at 2-2 heading into the third, when Rafael Cordero's (Jr., Utica, N.Y.) lead-off walk resulted in a run scored to give Oswego State a one-run lead.  The Lakers tacked on two more goals in the bottom half of the fifth inning to go ahead 5-2.  Cobleskill scored a run in the top of the seventh and had runners on first and third with two outs, but Dustin LeFave (Jr., Moravia, N.Y.) struck out the final batter looking to preserve the win.

Dave Widrick (Sr., Lowville, N.Y.) posted the win for Oswego State, while he received help from Kane Share, who went 3-for-3 with two RBI.

The Lakers face New Paltz on Saturday, April 17 at 12 p.m. in New Paltz.
