The Oswego State women's lacrosse team trailed early against visiting Geneseo, and was never able to recover in a 22-14 loss on Saturday afternoon. The Lakers out-scored the Blue Knights 9-7 in the second half, but Oswego State dropped to 5-6 overall and 0-3 in the SUNYAC. Geneseo improved to 7-5 on the season and 4-1 in the conference.

The Lakers were down early on in the contest, as Geneseo jumped to a quick 4-1 lead within the first six minutes.  Oswego State, however, would not go down without a fight and tried to keep the game within reach.

Kristen Darcy (So., East Syracuse, N.Y.)  netted two consecutive goals to bring the Lakers within one, but the momentum shifted and Geneseo went on a 7-0 run to extend its lead to eight.  The offense just did not click for Oswego State, which only managed to take 12 shots in the first half and headed into intermission down 15-5.

Coach Ostrander's squad tried to make a run heading into the second half and had six different players score.  Darcy, Bri Borrow (Jr., Oswego, N.Y.) and Maria Martusewicz (Jr., Redwood, N.Y.)  all netted three goals apiece for the Lakers, while Marisa Audley (Sr., Liverpool, N.Y.) and Erin Cummings (So., Valley Cottage, N.Y.)  both contributed two.

Oswego State cut the deficit to six goals with five minutes to play, as it rallied to make a comeback, but the Blue Knights' defense was too strong down the stretch.

The Lakers host another game on Monday against Elmira at 4 p.m.
