Slow Start Hurts Women's Lacrosse In 20-9 Loss To Buffalo State

Box Score

Another slow start for the Oswego State women's lacrosse team resulted in a 20-9 loss to Buffalo State on Friday. The Lakers could not find a way to stop the Bengals from netting 13 goals in the first half that propelled them to the victory. The loss dropped the Lakers to 6-8 on the season and 0-5 in the SUNYAC, while Buffalo State improved to 8-4 and 4-1 in the league.

The Lakers could not find any rhythm offensively to begin the contest.  A quick 6-1 run by the Bengals within the first ten minutes forced Oswego State to play catch-up for the entire game.  A goal by Erin Cummings (So., Valley Cottage, N.Y.) brought the Lakers within three with just over eight minutes left in the first period, but that would be as close as the Lakers would get.  Cummings led the Lakers with three goals, while Bri Borrow (Jr., Oswego, N.Y.) contributed two.

Buffalo State scored three consecutive goals to end the first period and headed into intermission with a 13-6 advantage over the Lakers.

Oswego State's offensive struggles continued in the second half.  The Lakers could not find the back of the net and went nearly 20 minutes without a goal.  The Lakers managed to score just three goals in the half, while giving up seven to the Bengals.  Oswego State also had 26 turnovers in the game as Buffalo State cruised to a 20-9 victory.

Oswego State will continue its road trip tomorrow as it travels to Fredonia at 1 p.m.
