Andy Lever (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) scored 11 seconds into the contest, and the Oswego State men's lacrosse team did not stop as the Lakers defeated host SUNY Cobleskill 15-5 on Tuesday. Lever finished the game with four goals and an assist to pace Oswego State followed by Bobby Pattridge's (So., Henrietta, N.Y.), who added three goals of his own. The Lakers improved to 4-6 overall after playing their third game in four days. Cobleskill dropped to 5-6 overall.
Oswego State dominated possession time in the first half tallying 31 shots compared to just five attempted by the Fighting Tigers, as the Lakers established an 11-1 lead in the first two quarters. Head Coach Dan Witmer's squad also ran down 33 groundballs during the first half, while SUNY Cobleskill recorded 16.
Scoring slowed down in the third quarter as each squad tallied a goal to make the score 12-2 in favor of Oswego State. Pattridge scored the first Laker goal in the fourth quarter before Nick Zoyhofski (Sr., Hamburg, N.Y.) and Dan Scarazzo (Sr., Fairport, N.Y.) added goals to extend the lead to 15-2. SUNY Cobleskill's Shane Francis closed out the game with three goals to make the final score 15-5.
In addition to multiple goals from Lever and Pattridge, Oswego State received two scores each from Andy Williams (So., Hamburg, N.Y.) and Zoyhofski. Other Lakers to tally goals were Scarrazo, who also contributed two assists, Pat Decker (Jr., Spencerport, N.Y.), Britt Leone (So., Schenectady, N.Y.), and Mike Wiesenthal (Sr., Wappingers Falls, N.Y.).
Judd Robinson (Sr., Guilderland, N.Y.) posted the victory in the net after making three saves and allowing one goal in the first half for Oswego State. Three Lakers combined to make nine saves in the second half.
Oswego State will travel to Oneonta on Saturday for a SUNYAC contest starting at 1 p.m.
