The top of the order did all of the damage in the first game for Coach Casey Price, as the first five batters went 10-for-18 with all six runs scored.
Katie Bredin set the tone as she singled to the pitcher to get on base. Dee Apps' single up the middle drove in Bredin from third for the 1-0 edge. Two batters later,
Paige Anderson ripped a double into the gap in left center field to bring around Apps to give Oswego State a 2-0 lead midway through the first. Potsdam responded with a run in the following at-bat when Ashley Thayer's triple drove in Heather Johnson.
The Lakers extended their lead in the third after RBI from Apps and Schoff to make the score 4-1.
Brittany Carbacio touched home plate in the fifth when she stole third, and went home after an error by the pitcher. The final Oswego State run came in the top of the seventh when a two-out walk issued to Carbacio came back to haunt the Bears. Carbacio stole second, and came all of the way around after a RBI-double by Apps for her third RBI of the game. Ashley Thayer drove in the second Potsdam run in its last at-bat, but it would be too late.

Jessica Palmitesso had a no-hit bid going into the bottom of the sixth when the first three Potsdam batters hit singles to load the bases. Dana Vollmuth then laced a single into left field to bring in two runs. In the ensuing at-bat, Amanda Perry hit a three-run home run over the left field fence to make the score 5-1 in favor of the home team.
